Hybrid AI is transforming industrial production

Artificial intelligence has already proven its value across many business functions—but bringing it into industrial facilities has been a tougher challenge. That’s changing fast. Hybrid AI, which combines machine learning with symbolic approaches based on explicit knowledge, is emerging as a powerful solution to meet the high demands of industrial environments.

These hybrid systems deliver greater reliability, explainability, and data efficiency, enabling new use cases on the shop floor. Early deployments are already driving more precise maintenanceup-to-date asset management, and de-risked project execution—all supporting the industry’s goals of flexibility, performance, and sustainability.

French start-up Samp is a standout example, using AI and 3D scanning to help rapidly build accurate digital twins of industrial sites. Their technology improves maintenance, safety, and knowledge sharing while avoiding “black box” limitations.
